Residence in our Co-op is open to any person in full-time pursuit of a full-time, accredited, post-baccalaureate degree, internship, or training program.
Our Residents attend The Cleveland Institute of Art, The Cleveland Institute of Music, Case-Western Reserve University, John Carroll University, Cleveland State University, University Hospitals and The Cleveland Clinic.
We are pursuing PhD, MD, LLD, and Master’s degrees in many fields. In addition to music performance and art, our fields of study include law, business, nursing, dentistry, engineering, mathematics, medicine, political science, computer science, public health, social work, and bio-ethics.
At any given time, as many as eight to 12 different nationalities may be represented among the 21 residents living in the House, who are always nearly evenly split between men and women.
Residents have ranged in age from 20 to more than 50 years old.
It has been said that CSHA shows no bias in admissions and, indeed, CSHA is an “equal opportunity” rejecter! House residents maintain diversity, but not by any arbitrary quota system. Members must reach a collective agreement about whether each new applicant will (or will not!) “…contribute to the diversity of the existing membership, rather than promote homogeneity,” as the by-laws require.
